MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THEATRE PERSONALITY ASTON COOKE SET FOR MARCH 30

A memorial service, in celebration of the life of late theatre personality Aston Cooke is slated for Saturday March 30, at the Wolmer’s auditorium at Wolmer’s Boys’ School in Kingston. It begins at 10am.

This was confirmed by playwright/director/producer/actor David Tulloch.

Cooke, a playwright/director/producer/actor, was found dead in his St Andrew home on February 22.

He is believed to have been in his late 50s.

Cooke’s works include Single Entry, Country Duppy, Internal Affairs, and Concubine. A co-franchise holder of the Miss Jamaica World pageant, he had nine national Actor Boy Awards to his credit.

A former chairman of the Commissioners of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, he formed the Jamaica Youth Theatre in 2004.
