The Jamaica Defence Force JDF officer accused of misconduct involving a junior female soldier has resigned.

The scandal related to an intimate relationship between the officer and the female soldier.

Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General Rocky Meade said both parties were charged under sections of the Defence Act and for contravening the JDF’s Personal Relationship and Fraternisation Policy.

The officer and female soldier were both found guilty, after which the officer tendered his resignation.

General Meade pointed out there was “no allegation of sexual harassment made by either party and therefore no charges were laid for breach of the JDF Sexual Harassment Policy.”
