JAPAN AND SPAIN THROUGH TO LAST EIGHT OF FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP FOOTBALL FINALS

Japan and Spain are through to the last eight of the Fifa Women’s World Cup Football Finals in Australia and New Zealand.

Both booked their quarter final spots today with convincing victories.

Japan’s strong form at the tournament continued in Wellington, where they spanked former champions Norway by 3 goals to one.

Japan will face the winner of the USA versus Sweden clash, in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, Spain romped to an easy 5-1 triumph over Switzerland, to secure their place in the round of eight, for the first time.

Aitana Bonmati scored twice, as Spain routed Switzerland to become the first team to advance to the quarter finals.
