JAMAICA RECORDS 510 MURDERS SINCE THE START OF THE YEAR

Jamaica has recorded more than 500 murders since the start of the year.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, 510 murders were recorded as at Saturday, May 7.

This is 17 more than the 493 recorded in the corresponding period last year.

St. James recorded the highest number of murders with 90, followed by Westmoreland with 49.

Break-ins also increased. 339 cases have been recorded since the start of the year, 23 more than the 316 recorded in the same period last year.

Meantime, there were declines in cases of rape and robbery. Rapes declined by 37, down to 143 from 180.

Robberies declined by 24, down to 315, from 339.
