Attorney-At-Law Isat Buchanan, will be allowed to continue his practice and represent dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, at the Privy Council.
This after the Court of Appeal yesterday (Tues) granted Buchanan a stay of his 2 year suspension, by the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council.
A stay, is an action taken by a court, to stop or pause a legal proceeding, or the actions of a party.
The stay was granted, pending the outcome of his appeal against the suspension period, which has been described as excessive.
Case management conference is set for July next year, following which a date will be set for the hearing of the appeal.
Buchanan was suspended this month, after he was found guilty of professional misconduct, for comments he made about Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn.
He pleaded guilty in November, to breaching ethics rules, which guide the conduct of attorneys.
