Forecasters say Eta, now a tropical depression, is beginning to turn toward the Caribbean while marching through Central America.

Florida still lies in its projected path as it veers back into the Caribbean Sea where it could re-intensify.

Eta weakened into a tropical depression on Wednesday evening after making landfall in Nicaragua as a Category 4 major hurricane.

It degenerated once the center became disrupted by Central America’s mountainous terrain.

The system is expected to re-enter the Caribbean this evening.

It is then expected to pass over Cuba and approach South Florida Sunday or Monday as a tropical storm.
