The Ministry of Education is reporting that just under 50 per cent of students who sat the Primary Exit Profile Examination, will still be in need of targeted academic support at the Grade 7 level.

Education Minister, Fayval Williams made the announcement while speaking at a press conference on the release of the results this morning (July 8).

She said over 40 per cent of the students were at the developing level in Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

Under the National Standards Curriculum, these students possess the necessary knowledge, however, they will still need targeted attention heading into high school.

Mrs Williams noted that for Science, 45 per cent of students, ranked in the developing level, with Language Arts accounting for the best performance among the students.

Meantime, she noted that girls continue to outshine the boys in all subjects.
