CULTURE MINISTER EXPRESSES SADNESS AT PASSING OF RENOWNED PRODUCER/DIRECTOR TREVOR NAIRNE

Culture Minister Olivia Grange has expressed sadness at the passing of well known producer and director Trevor Nairne yesterday.

In a statement, Ms. Grange noted that while she knew that Nairne was ill, his death came as a shock.

The Minister said she and Nairne worked together on the production of the Grand Gala.

She added that for over 50 years, he directed some of the Jamaica’s most popular plays.

Ms. Grange said Nairne’s partnership with writer Patrick Brown, evolved into Jambiz International, which has produced comedies which have enjoyed consistently, great favour with audiences.

In extending condolences to Nairne’s family and friends, Ms. Grange said Jamaica has lost yet another cultural stalwart.
