An investigation has been launched by authorities in the Bahamas, after three US nationals were found dead at the Sandals Emerald Bay Resort in Exuma yesterday.

The deceased include two men and one woman, whose identities have not been released.

Another woman was airlifted to a hospital in Nassau for treatment.

Acting Primer Minister Chester Cooper said the cause of the deaths is not yet known.

He also pointed out that there was no sign of fowl play.

Cooper told Eyewitness News Bahamas that he has been briefed on the matter by the Commissioner of Police and the Resort’s Executive Management. He has also asked the Minister of Health Dr. Michael Darville to lead a delegation of health, environment and public works officials to Exuma to conduct further assessments.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Sandals said a health emergency was reported and following protocols, medical professionals were alerted.

While expressing sadness at the deaths of the three visitors, Sandals said the hotel is working with local authorities during the investigation, as well as with the relatives of the guests.
