CARPHA receives support to address infectious disease surveillance in the Caribbean

The Republic of Korea is assisting the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) in developing laboratory systems and networks in Trinidad.

According to CARPHA The US$656,743 US dollars  grant will also aid in developing human resource skills in the health sector to accurately detect, diagnose, and treat infectious diseases.

The Republic of Korea is funding the project “Strengthening Health Systems in CARICOM to Address Infectious Diseases” through the Republic of Korea-CARICOM (ROK-CARICOM) Cooperation Fund.

Host Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, said the launch of a project of this kind underlines the need to establish robust and resilient healthcare systems in the CARICOM region.
