Pop singer Sia set to release a new movie this February, a film the artiste wrote and directed herself.

The movie centers on Zu, played by kate Hudson, who is newly sober when she receives news that she is to become the sole guardian of her half-sister named Music, a young girl on the autism spectrum. “Music”  explores two of Sia’s favorite themes: finding your voice and creating family.

However the singer had faced backlash from some in the autistic community, with people saying she should have cast someone who is actually on the autism spectrum rather than Maddie Ziegler,
w
ho has appeared in Sia’s music videos.

The “Chandelier” singer appeared on Australia’s “The Sunday Project,” to explain why she chose to cast Ziegler.

Sia stated “I realized it wasn’t ableism, I mean it is ableism I guess as well, but it’s actually nepotism because I can’t do a project without her. I don’t want to. I wouldn’t make art if it didn’t include her.”

Sia admitted that on the first day of rehearsals, Maddie was super scared as she never wanted anyone to think that she was making fun of them and Sia did gave her a little reassurance saying ”I won’t let that happen.”
