Students of the University of Technology UTECH have joined their teachers in their bid to get the government and school administrators to pay up what they owe.

The UTECH Students Union has called on members of the student body wear black today, as well as to join in a protest march to Jamaica House.

In a message last evening (Wed), the UTECH Student’s Union lamented that the government has shown disregard for the institution for far too long.

The group called for justice for education, for the government to do better, by paying the staff so that regular classes can resume.

Concerns have been raised about the impact of the strike on teacher/student contact time, especially in preparation for end of term examinations.
