Road fatalities increase

The death toll on the nation’s roads continues to rise with two fatalities recorded in separate incidents last night.

Police have identified those killed as Paul Richards of Bucknor district in Clarendon and bauxite plant operator 23-year-old Demar Dunkley of Nain, St. Elisabeth.

Reports are that about 10:30pm, Dunkley was driving a motorcar along the Cheapside main road when he crashed into a tree.

He was pronounced dead at hospital. And about 7:30 last evening Paul Richards was among three people in a motor truck, travelling along the Font Hill main road heading towards Black River.

The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle which overturned. All three people sustained multiple injuries. Richards was pronounced dead at hospital.
