WINDIES LOSE TO ENGLAND DESPITE CHRIS GAYLE’S CENTURY

The West Indies, despite a whirlwind century by Chris Gayle went down by six wickets in the first One Day International against England at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The Windies dropped 5 catches and with centuries by Jason Roy and Joe Root the visitors chased down a target of 361 to win with 8 deliveries to spare.

Earlier Gayle marked his return to Windies colours by slamming 135 from 129 balls as the hosts made a competitive 360 for 3, which included a world record 23 sixes – the most sixes ever hit by a team in a single innings in an ODI.

The second game in the five-match series will be played on Friday also in Barbados.
