The Privy Council today wrapped up its two-day hearing in the appeal hearing for entertainer Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer and his co-appellants Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John.
The four were convicted of the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in 2014.
After efforts to overturn their convictions in 2018 were dismissed by the Court of Appeal in Jamaica, they brought the matter to the Privy Council.
The grounds of challenge being considered in the case include whether or not the trial judge, should have excluded the telecommunications evidence relied on by the prosecution and how the judge should have handled allegations of attempts to bribe members of the jury during the trial.
Lawyers representing Vybz Kartel are confident the conviction will be overturned.
Legal experts believe an outcome of the hearing is expected to be made public in approximately 3 months time.
