Grammy winning rapper, producer, and actor Coolio has passed away.

Known for his 1995 hits ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ and ‘Fantastic Voyage’, the veteran entertainer died while in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon.

According to TMZ, Coolio was visiting a friend when he went to the bathroom and did not return. His friend grew concerned and went to check on him, only to find the rapper laying on the floor. After being called, EMT’s arrived and pronounced him dead on the scene. An official cause of death has not been determined.

Coolio dropped his deb ut studio album, ‘It Takes a Thief’, in 1994, featuring his breakout single ‘Fantastic Voyage’, which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Gangsta’s Paradise’, which was featured on the soundtrack to the movie ‘Dangerous Minds’ starring Michelle Pfeiffer and spent three weeks at number 1 and won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance.

Even though there were no signs of foul play, the police have launched an investigation into his death. The coroner will make a final determination following an autopsy.
