Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay says some event promoters remain determined to defy the ban on hosting entertainment events.
She pointed to one instance in which promoters resumed an event with a new set of devices to play music not long after lawmen had shut down the session and seized equipment.
SSP Lindsay also explained the challenges police face to get some Jamaicans to comply with the health protocols under the Disaster Risk Management Act, which guide the health protocols that are in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 on the island.
However, she says the majority of persons hosting illegal parties comply when the police order them to end the events.
