Prime Minister Andrew Holness has described as selfish, the call by some sections of society to reopen certain activities, despite the risks posed by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday (Tues) Mr. Holness cited a message posted on social media relating to foreigners being allowed to come to Jamaica, breathing freely, while locals were suffocating.

He noted that these same persons criticize government for not doing enough.

Mr. Holness said he will continue to put in place measures to protect the most vulnerable, while balancing lives and livelihood.

He said he understands why citizens are upset about certain events being held, and that he too is upset about it.

He stressed that security forces are keen on applying the law equally and that the laws will be enforced.

Mr. Holness said the government‘s approach to the pandemic is fair and equitable.
