Jamaica continues to lag behind its Caribbean counterparts in the drive to vaccinate its population.

According to Director of the Pan American Health Organization, PAHO, Dr Carissa Etienne, Jamaica is one of several countries that remain far behind, despite the region having achieved a 50 percent vaccination rate.

750 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Jamaica has administered just over one million doses of vaccines, including first, second and single doses.

Dr. Etienne noted that Jamaica is among several countries with a vaccination rate of below 20 percent.
