Opposition leader Mark Golding says the government is spreading fake news that States of Emergency are needed to have security forces in communities.
His comment follows the government’s implementation of SOEs in seven police divisions.
They are : St James , Westmoreland and Hanover in the western end of the country and in the corporate area : St Andrew South , Kingston West , Kingston Central and Kingston East.
Speaking during a press conference this morning, Mr. Golding reiterated that he does not support the use of SOEs to tackle crime.
He added that SOEs will not tackle Jamaica’s longstanding crime problem, effectively.
