INDECOM Continues Investigation into Lionel Town fatal crash

The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, is reiterating that the specific causes, sources and nature of injuries sustained by persons in the accident in Lionel Town, Clarendon last Saturday have not yet been established.

Three persons died and six others are nursing injuries arising from the incident which involved a fatal motor vehicle collision and discharge of Police firearms.

The Commission says it awaits the official medical reports to confirm that information.

INDECOM said in its initial account provided to its investigators by Police Officers, that at least three of the officers involved in the incident have stated that they fired in the direction of the Nissan AD Wagon after it crashed.

The Commission said during the preliminary examination of the vehicle, a single projectile strike mark was identified at the left door frame. No firearm was reported as recovered from the scene.
