Shutdown Still Possible – Entertainment Board

Members of the Entertainment Advisory Board are warning entertainment players that a complete shutdown of the sector is still not off the books, if they and patrons continue to breach the guidelines set out by the Government.

Less than three weeks after the entertainment industry was given the green light to commence a phased reopening of the sector, the Government announced newer, stricter measures.

Local Government Minster Desmond McKenzie yesterday issued new guidelines and stipulated days for events and the closure of 17 beaches and 19 rivers, which have been used to stage events and entertain large crowds.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness revealed last week that, despite the best efforts of the majority of Jamaicans, the irresponsible behaviour of a few has caused the Government to review the decisions to relax the rules governing the sector.
