Rocky Johnson, father of actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s died on Wednesday evening at the age of 75.
A former professional wrestler, Rocky, began his career in the 1960s but got his big break after joining the WWE in the 80s. After a period in the World Wide Wrestling Federation, he became a top wrestler in the National Wrestling Alliance.
Rocky retired officially in 1991 but trained his son to become even better than him.

In 2008, Johnson achieved the highest honor in wrestling when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, holding down the spot as one of the world most influential sports performers.

In a statement, WWE said the company is “saddened” by Johnson’s passing and offered condolences to his family.
