Oscar-nominated film and stage actor Ian Holm has died at the age of 88.
The actor was featured in the animation Ratatouille, as well as the live-action blockbusters Alien and Lord Of The Rings where he played Bilbo Baggins and many more big-name films.
The actor died after fighting a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Sir Ian was born in England in 1931 and got into theater acting at a young age where he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
“It is with great sadness we can confirm that the actor Sir Ian Holm passed away this morning at the age of 88,” He died peacefully in hospital with his family and carer.” Holm’s agent said in a statement.
