JAMAICAN MEN SAFELY THROUGH TO 100M SEMI FINALS

All three Jamaican Men are through to the semi finals of the 100 meters at the Paris Games.

World Leader Kishane Thompson jogged to 10 second flat to win heat 1, while Oblique Seville and Akeem Blake were comfortable 2nd place finishers.

American Noah Lyles was made to work for 2nd place in his heat and will face off with Seville in the Semi Finals.

When the two last met, Seville got the better of the World Champion in Kingston.

OUR DIRECTS JPS TO ENFORCE STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH ITS AUGUST 12 POWER RESTORATION DEADLINE

The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has issued a directive to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) to enforce strict compliance with its latest schedule for returning electricity supply to customers affected by Hurricane Beryl.

According to the OUR, given that the company has missed previously established timelines, the directive, which took effect on Wednesday July 31, requires JPS to comply with the latest restoration date it has given.

Failure to comply with this directive within the time specified will render JPS liable to enforcement action under the Office of Utilities Regulation Act.

The OUR has directed that JPS repairs its damaged network infrastructure due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl, in accordance with its restoration schedule and achieve 100% restoration of electricity to consumers, subject to the inaccessibility issues faced in some areas as exceptions, by August 12.

DON LEMON SLAPS ELON MUSK WITH $35 MILLION LAWSUIT OVER ABORTED X TALK SHOW

Don Lemon has waged a legal battle against Elon Musk.

According to Variety, the Emmy-winning news journalist is suing his former boss, over a cancelled content partnership they solidified back in January.

Lemon claims he had agreed to host an exclusive talk show on the X platform, which Musk acquired nearly two years ago; however, Lemon states Musk and his company abruptly terminated the deal, after his contentious interview with the tech mogul.

The lawsuit alleges Musk and X had used Lemon’s name to stir up interest from advertisers and then scrapped the deal a week before the show’s premiere.

Lemon claims he “incurred hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses” while preparing for the program and was never compensated for his work.

SPRINTER KEMBA NELSON NOW ON HER WAY TO PARIS FOR WOMEN’S 4×100 METERS

Sprinter Kemba Nelson is now on her way to Paris to join Jamaica’s women’s 4×100-metre relay team in reserve capacity.

The World championship relay silver medalist Nelson, is expected to arrive in Paris late this evening or tomorrow morning.

This development comes two days after two-time 200-metre world champion Shericka Jackson withdrew from the 100-metre event at the Paris Olympics.

 

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE HAS LICENCE SUSPENDED OVER DRINK-DRIVING CHARGE

Justin Timberlake had his licence suspended, after appearing virtually at a hearing in New York over his drink-driving charge.

The 43-year-old singer appeared via video link from Belgium. He pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated DWI.

Sag Harbor Village judge also reprimanded the musician’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr, for “irresponsible” comments he made at the last court hearing, adding it “comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins”.

The judge even threatened to issue a gag order if the lawyer continued to make such comments.

Mr Burke has maintained that Timberlake was not drunk and that the case should be dropped.

In an Instagram post earlier today (August 1), the 31-year-old singer shared a photo to make the official announcement.
