The Los Angeles Lakers, according to an ESPN report, are not planning a formal tribute to NBA legend Kobe Bryant, who a year ago today was killed along with his daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash near Calabasas, California.
The Lakers did not wear their “Black Mamba” tribute uniforms for Monday’s game in Cleveland and won’t be doing so for Wednesday’s game.
Lakers players have offered subtle tributes, including wearing Bryant’s signature sneakers and breaking huddles with a “Mamba on three” shout.
The Lakers appear to be taking their cue from Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, who said on Instagram, the year has been traumatic enough and asked members of the media to remember the lives of the victims rather than their deaths.
