Two high-profile collaborations were aiming for the top spot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart update, with Doja Cat’s Nicki Minaj-assisted “Say So” and Megan Thee Stallion’s Beyoncé-featuring “Savage” both vying for No. 1.
Now, marking victory in a close  race, the honour goes to “Say So.”
Notably, this is both Doja and Nicki’s first-ever No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Last week, Kid Cudi earned his first with the top spot debut of his Travis Scott collab “The Scotts.”
“Say So” originally appeared on Doja Cat’s 2019 album Hot Pink.
The song was pushed to radio in early 2020 as the album’s fifth official single. The Nicki remix, however, didn’t pop up until this month.
“Say So” also sees a leap from No. 16 to No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 66,000 downloads sold in the week ending May 7.
On the Radio Songs chart, the track leaps one spot to No. 2 and rises to No. 4 on the Streaming Songs chart, with the latter showing an 87 percent jump to 30.3 million U.S. streams for the week.
The track is also now No. 1 on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as well as the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts.
