Dancehall artiste, Bounty Killer, has been very outspoken about the current state of crime and other social issues affecting Jamaica, and he isn’t planning on stopping anytime soon.

On Tuesday, he reacted to the recent shooting of a 6-year-old boy who was allegedly shot by his 15-year-old cousin.

While re-posting the article of the incident, he wrote in his caption, “Music causing all these demonic acts and behaviors, tell me now Mr man in the mirror”.

This issue has been a topic of conversation since Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, who back in January during parliament said, “our music has been taken over by violence” and called on artistes to be more responsible with their music.

Of course, industry players and the wider public have taken their stance on the matter, with some agreeing that dancehall music does have a negative impact and others—including Bounty Killer—strongly disagreeing that the music is a major contributing factor.

Public discourse on this topic will never fade and the question still remains, what is the cause of the current state of violence in our country?
