Dancehall King Beenie Man is to be sentenced on May 17 for breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act

The entertainer pleaded guilty to the charge earlier today in the St Elizabeth Parish Court earlier today. The charge of breaching the Noise Abatement Act was tossed by the court.

Beenie Man was charged with breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act following an event held on November 29 in St Elizabeth.

Fellow entertainers Fantan Mojah and Elephant Man are also before the court on similar charges.

Individuals found in breach of the health and safety protocols under the Disaster Risk Management Act can be charged with fines ranging from JA$3,000 to JA$500,000. Meanwhile, failure to stay inside during a curfew can attract a fine of JA$10,000.
