Singer and entrepreneur Akon has denied reports in the media that he is working on a reggae-inspired project titled Akon and friends.
The Superstar took to Twitter to set the record straight last week after the project was reported by various sources.
He tweeted “FOR THE RECORD, I AM NOT PUTTING OUT A REGGAE COMPILATION CALLED AKON AND FRIENDS…I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROJECT IF YOU SEE IT BEING PROMOTED IT’S NOT HAPPENING!”.
The project was promoted by Contractor Music Marketing. The Zee reached out to Contractor who sought to clear the air on the issue.
In March, the project was announced as a collaborative effort which would feature tracks with international stars Akon and DaBaby, as well as Reggae stars Jah Cure, Peetah Morgan, Wayne Wonder, Capleton, Warrior King, and others.
Contractor points to the breakdown between the two parties.
