Colombian singer Shakira has been summoned to appear in a Spanish court for allegedly evading taxes to the tune of 14.5 million euros between 2012 and 2014.

Reports say prosecutors maintain the singer claimed to live in the Bahamas when she was actually residing in Catalonia and indicted her for concealing her income through several companies in tax havens.

Shakira’s public relations firm has reportedly said that the singer has settled her debts with local tax authorities and that she will testify in court on June 12 .

Shakira, a Grammy award winner and the founder of Bare Foot, a foundation for underprivileged children, lives with her husband Gerard Pique and their children in the Barcelona suburb.

Recently, former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo admitted committing tax fraud and agreed to pay fines rather than face jail sentences.
