There’s a Tropical Wave just east of Jamaica.

Additionally, there is a Low-Level Jet Stream across the central Caribbean.

The Met Office says this Tropical Wave is expected to move across the island today.

Expect an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity beginning later this morning and lasting through to this evening.

Additionally, windy conditions are expected especially across southern parishes today due to the presence of the Low-Level Jet Stream.

A Low-Level Jet Stream is a narrow band of fast flowing wind in the lower levels of the atmosphere.

This morning will see showers and isolated thunderstorms across sections of eastern parishes.

This afternoon into this evening will become cloudy with periods of showers and thunderstorms across most parishes. It will also be windy especially across southern parishes.

Tonight will be partly cloudy.

A Small Craft Warning is in effect for offshore areas of the south coast due to strong winds and rough seas.

Maximum temperature expected for Kingston today is 33 degrees Celsius, Montego Bay 34 degrees Celsius.
