Students at primary, secondary and tertiary learning institutions will have an opportunity to express their views on Jamaica‘s most outstanding achievements since gaining Independence, through essays and visual arts.

The Jamaica Information Service is encouraging students to enter its annual Heritage Competition, which provides an avenue to engage in national discussions and to widen their knowledge about Jamaica’s Heritage.

Primary-level students, aged nine to 12, are required to submit an essay explaining what you think is “Jamaica’s Greatest Achievement over the Past 60 Years’.

The essay should be between 400 and 500 words. It will be judged on relevance to the topic, originality, accuracy and analysis of research data, writing style and language skills.
