Young Jamaica is calling for the resignation of Opposition MP Dennis Gordon after his company, JACDEN Limited, was named among beneficiaries of UHWI’s misuse of its tax-exempt status.
At Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, it was revealed JACDEN imported items duty-free, contributing to unpaid customs duties of $23.1 million.
An audit found UHWI improperly facilitated imports for private entities, now under probe by MOCA and the Integrity Commission.
JACDEN has denied wrongdoing, blaming administrative failures at the hospital rather than misconduct by the company.
Young Jamaica says Gordon’s positions are now “untenable” and is also criticising PNP President Mark Golding over the issue.
