Rising reggae artist YG Marley has officially signed with Tony Bucher’s Hitmaker Music Group and Hitmaker Distro, following the massive success of his 2023 single 'Praise Jah in the Moonlight'.
Although the terms of the deal weren’t revealed, the partnership formalizes an existing 18-month working relationship that began with YG’s first release through Hitmaker.
This collaboration has already produced impressive results, including over a billion streams and a 5x platinum global certification for 'Praise Jah in the Moonlight'.
The track, co-written by YG’s mother, Ms. Lauryn Hill, gained viral traction through TikTok and momentum from the Bob Marley: One Love biopic. It peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and incorporates elements of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Crisis, which earned the reggae legend posthumous songwriting credits.
Under the new agreement, YG Marley will release his debut EP in the fall, continuing his journey with the label that has supported him from the beginning while allowing him to maintain his independence.
