Rapper Kanye West, known now as Ye, briefly showed up to the New York trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs today in support of the hip-hop mogul and his longtime friend.
Ye arrived at Manhattan federal court during a break in the proceedings and spent about 40 minutes in the building. He reportedly didn’t get into the main courtroom, instead observing testimonies in an overflow room monitor.
The rapper was asked if he was at the courthouse to support Combs, to which he nodded and responded yes. He did not appear to respond when a reporter asked if he might testify on Combs’ behalf when the defence begins presenting its case as early as next week.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges alleging that he used his fame, fortune and violence to commit crimes over 20 years. Ye’s appearance at the courthouse came a day after a woman identified in court only by the pseudonym “Jane” finished six days of testimony.
