A woman was arrested by members of the Lottery Scam Task Force in Cambridge, St. James, today (February 3).

The police say a cellular phone, several lead sheets, and other lottery scamming paraphernalia were seized.

The operation got underway about 10:00 a.m. and lasted approximately five hours.

The police say today’s seizure comes as the Lottery Scam Task Force is reporting last year ending the unit carried out 166 operations and raids.

Fort-eight of the 54 persons who were arrested were charged, and 14 cases concluded with convictions.

The unit also seized $3,730,000 in cash, 50 cellular phones, four laptops, two tablets and a number of lead sheets.

The activities of the unit also saw the seizure of three firearms and 210 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Head of the Unit, Inspector Luhas Daniels says the members of the task force will continue their efforts in 2022 as they seek to rid Jamaica of lottery scamming.
