West Kingston MP Desmond McKenzie says he was pepper-sprayed by a police officer while trying to calm residents after a police shooting in the constituency on Tuesday morning.
Mr.McKenzie said he intervened after an officer attempted to detain a woman who sought refuge behind him, and was sprayed during the encounter.
He was treated at the scene and later declined medical attention, while criticizing the use of pepper spray and expressing concern over the incident.
INDECOM has launched an investigation into the police shooting, and the condition of the person shot remains unknown.
