The West Indies Under-19 Women have booked their place in the Super Six stage of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup after a dominant 53-run victory over hosts Malaysia in their final group game.
The win sees the Windies finish third in Group A and move on to the next stage of the competition.
After being asked to bat first, the West Indies, who struggled to pick up the pace, posted a total of 112 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Opener Asabi Callender held the innings together with a 42-ball 30 while middle order batter Jahzara Claxton supported with a knock of 19, while Jamaica’s Abigail Bryce added 14.
Malaysia’s Siti Nazwah (2 for 28) and Nur Izzatul Syafiqa (2 for 26) the standout bowlers for the hosts.
