WEST INDIES SEAL SERIES WITH THRILLING ONE-WICKET WIN OVER IRELAND

A dramatic final over highlighted by mix ups, comedy, a close run out call, horrible confusion and nerves, ended with a sensational 1 wicket win for the West Indies Cricketers over Ireland, in the second One Day International being played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The Windies needed 5 runs from the final over to pull off the win and after the drama, Sheldon Cottrell hit a massive six off the penultimate delivery, to take them over the line at 242-9 and into an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

This after the Windies recovered from 148-7 in the 29th over led by Hayden Walsh Junior with an unbeaten 46, supported by Sheldon Cottrell 7 not out and Alzarri Joseph who contributed 16.

Earlier Nicholas Pooran struck 52 and Captain Kieron Pollard 40, sharing in a 64 run 6th wicket partnership to lift the Windies from 76-4.

Simi Singh 3-48, Andy McBrine 2 for 37 and Barry McCarthy 2-28 took most wickets for Ireland.
