Wendy Williams Conservatorship Woes

Share

Former talk-show host Wendy Williams is living under a contentious guardianship that has left her confined and isolated in an assisted living facility.
Williams revealed her conservatorship stemmed from financial fraud involving her son, Kevin Hunter.
In the TMZ documentary titled 'Saving Wendy,' she claimed Wells Fargo froze her accounts in 2022 after discovering unauthorised withdrawals, which she alleges her son was responsible for. Hunter denies the accusations and did not participate in the documentary.
Williams stated someone impersonated her to access her accounts, triggering the bank's intervention.
Wendy also revealed difficulties addressing the financial fraud while living with her son in Miami, as he had access to her phone, which hindered alerts about the charges. Despite describing him as a "good person," she expressed frustration with his actions and behaviour.
Williams, who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, had a lot to say in a new TMZ documentary.
In a snippet of the documentary released this morning (February 13), fans saw the 60-year-old in tears as she described her restricted lifestyle, including being allowed outside only twice in 30 days, having no internet, and being unable to contact friends or family freely.
Feeling "like a prisoner," Williams has filed legal documents seeking to end her guardianship, asserting she has regained the ability to manage her life and disputing her dementia diagnosis.
When speaking with TMZ frontman Harvey Levin, Wendy spoke about her plans to undergo a new medical evaluation to support her claim and that she has hired a new attorney to advocate for her freedom.
If the guardianship remains in place, Williams intends to present her case to a jury.
Scores of social media fans have expressed outrage, calling her situation heartbreaking and unjust.
Williams hopes to move to Florida to live with her family and is currently focused on celebrating her father’s birthday in Miami.
Her 13-year run as a talk show host ended in 2022 when The Wendy Williams Show aired its final episode.
