Water Supply Regulations To Take Effect July 21 For KSA Amid Drought Conditions

Share

The National Water Commission NWC has announced that new water supply regulations will be implemented in parts of Kingston and St. Andrew KSA due to ongoing drought conditions across sections of the island.

Beginning Monday, July 21, the restrictions will apply to the Mona and Hope water networks. Additional measures for the Constant Spring network will take effect on Wednesday, July 23.

The NWC explained that the move comes in response to a sharp decline in inflows to its primary storage facilities. As of July 18, 2025, water levels at the Mona Reservoir had dropped to 46.3%, while the Hermitage Dam stood at 58.3% capacity.

Despite these reductions, the NWC noted that its proactive management strategies had enabled the agency to maintain consistent service up to this point. However, the current situation now requires more stringent measures to ensure sustainability.
