Dancehall mogul Vybz Kartel is officially back on Jamaican soil and ready to make history once again!
The "God is the Greatest" artiste is set to headline Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay this evening (July 18), marking his first appearance on the festival’s stage in 14 years. His last performance was in the summer of 2011.
This year’s staging, though, will be extra special, as the “Fever” singer will be formally crowned the King of Dancehall, a title previously bestowed upon Beenie Man in 2009.
The honour will be presented during the 32nd edition of the event, as confirmed by Downsound Entertainment CEO and Sumfest promoter, Joe Bogdanovich.
Kartel has been dominating 2025 with a string of chart-topping hits, including “Am Out” and “God is Greatest”, which have racked up over 5 million and 13 million views on YouTube, respectively.
Vybz Kartel's return to the stage has been nothing short of monumental, headlining sold-out arena shows at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, as well as in Miami and France.
He also delivered a historic set at the 2025 Wireless Festival in London, where he stunned the crowd by sharing the stage with none other than hip hop heavyweight Drake.
Yesterday (July 17), he dropped a series of Instagram updates, showing love to fans and sitting down with Joe Bogdanovich, who hinted at “multiple crowns” in store, further fuelling anticipation for the weekend.
