Dancehall stalwart Vybz Kartel says that he will be buying property on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
In a video uploaded to social media, the "Fever" artiste disclosed, in the presence of SVG Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and Jamaican cricketer Marlon Samuels, that he will be purchasing property on the island as he plans to visit often.
In addressing his reason for being on the island, Kartel told local media that he has been seeing a Cuban endocrinologist and another specialist to help in his fight against Graves' disease.
Vybz Kartel also revealed that he believes a change in environment is needed to improve his mental health due to his incarceration, which is also why he decided to visit SVG.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves addressed negative comments surrounding Vybz Kartel's presence on the island. According to SVG's IWitness News, the PM said that he received a call from Vybz Kartel's lawyer regarding treatment on the island: "... he [Isat Buchanan] called me and said that he understood that we have experts here in the field of dealing with the issue of Graves' disease, hypothyroidism, which is the condition publicly everybody knows that Mr. Kartel, Mr. Palmer, suffers from...". He continued, "I mean, we’re facilitating, because the impulse came from a simple word called mercy. Somebody who is in need is reaching out for help."
