Yesterday (February 18) was the 2025 MOBO Awards, and we got the tea!

The Music of Black Origin Awards was held at Newcastle's Utilita Arena. Jamaican Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel was honoured with the Impact Award.

This recognition came after his release from prison last year.

During the ceremony, Kartel delivered a live performance, marking a significant return to the stage. He captivated the audience with renditions of his popular tracks "Fever" and "Clarks."

This event marked his first appearance at the MOBO Awards since his nomination was withdrawn in 2004 due to controversy over his lyrics.

The Impact Award was presented to the “Comet” singer by fellow Dancehall artiste Spice, who referred to him as the "King of Dancehall."

Reflecting on his 13 years of incarceration and battle with Graves' disease, Kartel expressed gratitude and emphasised the importance of faith, change, and forgiveness in his acceptance speech.
