Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel issued an official notice, clarifying who speaks on his behalf.
It comes after his hypeman, MC Nuffy, expressed his disdain with the Recording Academy for awarding reggae artiste Keznamdi, the winner of the best reggae album, for "Blood & Fyah".
The project beat out 4 other projects including Jesse Royal's 'No Place Like Home', Mortimer's 'From Within', Vybz Kartel’s 'Heart & Soul' & Lila Iké's 'Treasure Self Love'.
In a statement issued yesterday (Tues), the dancehall giant noted that "for the avoidance of doubt, the only individuals authorized to speak on (his) behalf in any capacity are:
his manager Linton TJ White & Jason Mitchell, his legal counsel.
He however noted, that his official MC, Andrew Nelson aka Nuffy is not authorized to speak for or represent Vybz Kartel in any official, business, legal, or brand-related capacity.
He said any statements made outside of this structure may or may not reflect his position thus should not be treated as official.
Meanwhile, MC Nuffy, in response, issued an apology to the Recording Academy, noting that " his personal opinion was expressed in a moment of passion, and were not influenced by anyone, including that of Vybz Kartel.
He said he "acknowledged that his comments were inappropriate an did not reflect the respect owed to the Recording Academy."
