VETERAN MUSICIANS AMONG THOSE TO BE HONOURED ON HEROES DAY

Veteran entertainers Ernie Ranglin, Aston Family Man Barrett, the Mighty Diamonds, and Lt Stitchie are among the list of 143 Jamaicans who will be recognised for their outstanding contributions to nation building at the annual National Honours and Awards Ceremony, slated to take place on Heroes’ Day, Monday, October 18.

For his exceptional contribution to the development and internationalisation of Reggae Music, Ernie Smith is among four prominent Jamaicans who will be conferred with the Order of Jamaica (OJ), the fourth-highest national award.

Meanwhile, Mighty Diamonds, Aston Family Man Barrett, and Lt Stitchie are among the list of 40 persons to receive the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer (OD) for their outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry.

The virtual event will be streamlined ed live on the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), and Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) websites.
