Dancehall rising star Valiant has officially released his highly anticipated debut album Prove Them Wrong, marking a major milestone in his career.
The nine-track project, which is his second under Sony/Epic UK dropped today (May 23), and sees the Mannings Hill native stepping into a more refined, R&B-infused space.
Valiant credits the label with both pushing his global reach and giving him the freedom to explore a more mature, experimental sound. “I didn’t want it to sound like every other dancehall project,” he told Billboard earlier this month... “I wanted different feelings, so I infused my dancehall with a lot of R&B.”
Prove Them Wrong, ranges from themes from love and heartbreak to personal loss and resilience. It features a star-studded lineup, including Grammy-nominated R&B artist Fridayy, dancehall favorite 450, and the ever-mysterious Tommy Lee Sparta. Standout tracks like “Selfish,” “Ugly,” and “Whole Lotta” highlight Valiant’s lyrical growth, with Spanish guitar and introspective vibes touching on masculinity and self-worth.
Already boasting over 128 million U.S. streams (via Luminate), Valiant is ready to take things to the next level, and silence the doubters along the way.
