Usain Bolt Contributes Two Million to Alma Mater

Share

Before Usain Bolt became the fastest man in the world, he was just a young boy with big dreams, sprinting across the fields of William Knibb High School in Jamaica. It was there that his talent was discovered, setting him on the path to greatness.
Now, years later, Bolt continues to give back to his alma mater in a big way. The eight-time Olympic gold medallist has donated $2 million to his alma mater, helping to support young athletes who, like him, dream of making it to the world stage.
Bolt took to his Instagram this morning to share a snippet of William Knibb’s principal, Linvern Wright’s speech addressing the school of Bolt’s contribution, the fastest man in the world, with the caption: “Ignorance Enslave, Knowledge Liberates” @william_knibb_memorial_high”.
Usain Bolt's latest donation will help William Knibb Memorial High School strengthen its athletic programme as they gear up for the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships.
This isn’t the first time Bolt has given back to his alma mater. In 2022, he donated $2 million to improve the school's sports department, and in 2013, he gifted a bus to assist with transportation for students.
His continued support highlights his commitment to nurturing young athletes and giving back to the school that helped shape his legendary career.
