Jamaica has earned 1.2 billion US dollars from 1.1 million visitor arrivals, since the start of the year.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says there is a 22 percent increase in earnings, up by some 212 million US dollars and arrivals are up from 800,000 last year to 1.1 million, this year.

He says most of the visitors to the island were from the prescription drug levitra United States of America, as other markets such as the United Kingdom and Canada had various Coronavirus restrictions which prevented persons from travelling.

Mr. Bartlett pointed out that with the increase in earnings and visitor arrivals, the industry is playing a pivotal role in the country’s post pandemic recovery.

He said more than 60,000 workers have returned to jobs, which were lost as a result of the pandemic.
